Pick 4 works a bit differently to most other lotteries as you can choose between several play types. It's a very important decision as the way you play determines your odds of winning and the prize you can get. To win an Exact Order play, you must match all four of the drawn numbers in the correct position. Place a wager on 2025, for example, and you only win if the numbers are drawn as 2025. Another combination of the same numbers, such as 5202, would result in a losing wager.
This is a much easier play type to win as the numbers you select do not have to be drawn in a specific order. Wager 2025, for example, and you would still win if the numbers were drawn another way such as 2052, 0225 or 5202.
This play type gives you a way to play both Exact Order and Any Order at the same time, with $0.50 going on each. You win both parts of the prize if your numbers are drawn in exact order, or just the Any Order prize if they appear another way.
When you play a Combo, every combination of your selected numbers is entered as a separate Exact Order wager. You can still win the maximum payout and the odds are as good as an 'Any Order' play - you just have to pay for each separate combination.
An Exact Order play has one way to win - the numbers must appear in the same way as you pick them. For an 'Any Order' play, or a Combo, there are several ways to win, depending on how many of your numbers are the same as each other.
The combination of numbers you pick determines whether it is a 4-Way, 6-Way, 12-Way or 24-Way play. The number 2025, for example, has 12 possible winning combinations - 2025, 2052, 2205, 2250, 2502, 2520, 0225, 0252, 0522, 5202, 5220 and 5022.
